Jonathan Adler: I am sure for most of you in the States this Designer Star is by now a household name. However, this potter and (interior) designer is not very known in Europe yet. This could be due to the fact that we Europeans are not (yet) used to his signature style of bright colors and glam, seventies style pop culture inspired furniture.

I currently have a crush on Franz Klein (1910-1962), an American painter who happened to be good friends that other abstract painter, my fellow Dutch national Willem de Kooning. Klein is mostly known for his later work, abstract compositions in black and white.
ave you heard of furniture company Brabbu Design Forces yet? You almost cannot have missed them, as they are everywhere lately. Open any interior magazine, European, American, Russian or Chinese and there will usually be some item by Brabbu listed in an editorial somewhere.
oday I am sharing my latest computer-generated visualisation project: a Mid Century interior in a classic city apartment. Some of the furniture is vintage, some of it is new (but inspired on Mid Century design) and some of the pieces I designed myself, such as the dining table and the Sputnik Chandelier.
n my earlier post on Dark Decor, I posted an image of a large ceramic stove in the Et Hem Hotel in Stockholm, Sweden. I was quite intrigued by this huge, beautiful contraption so I decided to do some research on it. It turns out that this kind of stove is called a “Kakelugn”, Swedish for a tiled stove.

Spread on the floor next to your bed they keep the early morning iciness from your feet. Added as a lining to a pram will keep your baby warm, soft and sleepy (yeah, so you can do some shopping!).
or years now, the Pantone Color Insitute has selected a Color of the Year that would, according to them, reign in the design world for the next 365 days. In 2014 it was Radiant Orchid, a shade of Lilac that was seen as the symbol of economic recovery and optimism for humanity.
t has been a while since my last post. I have been very busy with my “real” job, making computer-generated visualisations for interior design projects. I thought it would be fun to post some of the latest results of an Amsterdam townhouse here today. It is a design for a typical Amsterdam-Zuid townhouse. These houses were built around 1900 and are usually about 15 metres deep by 6 metres wide.
know, antlers mounted on the wall are a favourite design staple of many designers and stylists. Especially with christmas nearing, I’m sure we will see them around a lot again. But I think we may have seen enough of them. When this trend hit interior-land a few years ago, it hit hard. Antlers mounted on the walls of country houses situated in hunting territories are an obvious choice. The same goes for wooden ski-chalets in snowy mountainous areas.
