Aubergine interiors feel just right for this time of year. Summer is definitely over and we find ourselves in the middle of the Indian Summer (did you know this name comes from the fact that in the olden days this was the time when the native Indians reaped in their harvest?).
The dwindling daylight and long moody shadows enhance the deeply saturated patina of Aubergine. Combine this mysterious and majestic color with gold for a warm glow. Or pair it down with the weathered greys of, for example, pewter. The color Aubergine is similar to Marsala Red, the color of the year 2015 picked by Pantone. You can read all about that in my December 2014 post here. Pantone was spot on, as not only do I see lots of Marsala and Aubergine in interiors now, but also in the new fashion collections this color is abundantly present.
After all the bright whites and mint colors of summer, I long for the warm winter tones. So here is some Aubergine inspiration, enjoy!
