Lee Broom

Lee Broom is one designer that cannot be omitted from my Designer Star list (although still short, but soon to be expanded). He is one of the UK’s leading product and interior-designers. Cool and glamorous, his designs are considered to be to furniture what Marc Jacobs or Tom Ford are to fashion. In fact, Broom has a background in fashion, with a degree in fashion design from Central St Martin college in London.

Ggreta Grossman (1906-1999) was, in an era when few women earned public acclaim for their accomplishments, one of the leading figures in the design world. During the 1940’s- and 50’s she enjoyed the spotlight in numerous publications in newspapers and sophisticated lifestyle magazines focussing on her designs ranging from industrial, interior and architecture. Her work was exhibited in museums worldwide, including the MoMa in New York and The National Museum in Stockholm.

Jonathan Adler

Jonathan Adler: I am sure for most of you in the States this Designer Star is by now a household name. However, this potter and (interior) designer is not very known in Europe yet. This could be due to the fact that we Europeans are not (yet) used to his signature style of bright colors and glam, seventies style pop culture inspired furniture.

Iit has been a while since my last post. I have been very busy with my “real” job, making computer-generated visualisations for interior design projects. I thought it would be fun to post some of the latest results of an Amsterdam townhouse here today. It is a design for a typical Amsterdam-Zuid townhouse. These houses were built around 1900 and are usually about 15 metres deep by 6 metres wide.

Ii don’t know about you, but I see the Koushi Lamp appearing all over in “blogland” lately. And I love the simplicity of the handmade design, bent wire and simple cotton. This beauty is the brainchild of American photographer Mark Eden Schooley, who is based in Paris and who’s work is featured in Marie Claire Maison, Elle Decor, Bloom and others.
