s opposed to some of the ultra-chic interiors I like to post here, I am also drawn to the old-industrial vibe as seen in all those beautifully renovated old lofts. The nonchalant, innately cool mix-and-match, arty blend really speaks to me. Also, the visible ductworks and bare brick walls really add to the charm factor. These are places where real living goes on, spaces for creative minds, long diners with intellectual conversation and wild parties. If you are thinking of moving to a loft, let me point out some pro’s and con’s:
Pro’s of Loft Living:
- HIGH CEILINGS as lofts are usually former commercial/industrial buildings
- LOTS OF NATURAL LIGHT due to the large and high windows
- OPEN AND FLEXIBLE LAYOUT as former industrial buildings spaces has to be large and open
Con’s of Loft Living:
- BAD ACOUSTICS due to the open layout, sounds travel far and loudly
- LIMITED STORAGE due to the lack of walls, built-in closets are not an option
- EXPENSIVE HEATING or cooling, due to the large spaces and old-fashioned construction (bad insulation)
I think the pro’s far outweigh the con’s, what are your thoughts?

Thanks so much Tony!
gorgeous photos! really love the industrial photos as i am redoing my master bedroom and bath in moody grays, browns and black – taking a leap of faith with black trim that i love! thrilled to have found your blog. just a friendly heads up – you don’t need ‘ in pros and cons. 😀 only for possessive. (Grammar Nazi here) 😀 With regard to antlers…I just put some metal deer mounts – bronze and nickel – in my newly decorated rooms and love them, but have seen posts that view them as glorifying hunting and ‘live’ mounts whereas I see them as a lovely alternative to celebrate the animal. In the end, you have to go with your heart – it’s your home. Look forward to checking out your archives and watching for future shares! Thanks for your great eye and insight.
Hi Laura, thanks for the compliment and I am so glad you are inspired! It’s the end of summer, autumn is “upon us” (as they say in Game of Thrones), so doing the bedroom in moody colors will be wonderful. And about antlers, well, they fall off by themselves, don’t they? So no guilty feelings there as far as I’m concerned. I hope you enjoy the rest of the posts and I promise I will start blogging again soon 🙂
