rabian Style Interiors make me long even more for those swelteringly hot summer days (and nights!). The ornamental and colorful characteristics are something completely different from the bare, monochrome Scandinavian and Mid Century styles that I like so much too. Oh well, I guess it is just proof that there’s more to a person’s taste and preferences than one can tell at first sight.
The Arabian style can be found all over Europe, but also in South East Asia the style has left its footprint. This has everyting to do with the fact that the Muslims conquered these territories as early as 7th and 8th centuries. But also today the Arabian style is still going strong.
Arabian style interiors are packed with graphic tile-patterns with infinite repetitions. These repetitions stand for the infinite power of Allah. You have probably noticed that human or animal forms are rarely seen in Arabian art and decor. This is because the Islam teaches that Allah’s work is matchless. However, foliage is depicted a lot, in a myriad of patterns, but always in a stylized and simplified form. The architecture of buildings has the fitting nickname “Architecture of the Veil” as its beauty lies within the inner spaces. Beautiful courtyards with fountains and pools, cool inner rooms with lots of carpets and pillows, all conceiled from the streetview.
You will see a lot of low seating areas, or even just some pillows on the floor. This stems from the Nomadic era where the home was usually a tent. Touches of gold/bronze or silver are another characteristic, adding to the Thousand-and-one-Night theme. Color is most important too, lots of indigo’s and stone-reds. And finally, lots of lanterns made of filigree metals, letting the light shine through creating incredible shadow-patterns on the walls and ceilings.

Hi All, thanks so much for the overwhelmingly large amount of comments and feedback! I only found out this week that most of your comments were stored in my Spam box, hence the delay or lack of any action on my side. So sorry for my ignorance, I will keep an eye on this in the future. Because I really appreciate all the interaction. All the best, Mac
Sir. You used one of our designs in mimarinteriors without mentioning us. The blue and white interior space is designed by mimarinteriors.com
Hi Ahmed, first of all, I am not a Sir but a Lady (I hope) :-), my apologies for not mentioning your firm as the designer of this beautiful space. I always try to credit the creators or bloggers from whom I source my material. In this case I did not know, so thanks for pointing this out to me. I have credited the images accordingly. All the best, bye, Mac
