This color reminds me of hospital corridors. The fact that it was not easy to find good imagery for this post says enough. I hope I am not hurting anyone’s feelings. Guilford Green to me is a difficult color. It would be great if it would have some more silver in it, making it olive green, but that’s just me. Anyway, for the sake of completeness I still wanted to share this information, hope to keep you informed. I would love to hear your thoughts on Guilford Green.

Het feit dat het moeilijk was om goed beeldmateriaal voor dit bericht te vinden, zegt al genoeg. Ik hoop niet dat ik nu iemand beledig, maar Guilford Green is nu eenmaal een moeilijke kleur (vind ik). Als er nou wat meer zilver in zou zitten, dan neigt de kleur naar olijfgroen, en dat is dan wel weer mooi. Nou ja, volledigheidshalve wilde ik deze info toch even delen, ben benieuwd wat jij van deze kleur vindt.

I actually love this color — I think it’s a gorgeous shade of spring green, and prefer it to the more blah, dull “silver green” below 🙂 I’ll be totally on-board with using it and recommending it to clients!
Hi Amy, I’m glad you like Guilford Green, would love to see an example of where you used it. I guess we Northern Europeans prefer the more subdued colors, such as the olive greens, probably has to do with our weather? Because I can imagine this color could be nice in a brightly sunlit environment.

I saw you on linkedin! Lovely blog and website here! I’m pretty much with you. It’s BM marketing BS. I find Guilford to be too minty/woosy for most situations. A color that I’ve used before with great success is 522 dried parsely which has more sepia in it. But I’ve also used hc-111 Nantucket Gray and 1497 Rolling Hills. 520 spring bud is a lovely pale celery green.

I like your alternatives much better, especially HC-111 Nantucket Gray. For a lighter green I would go for 522 Dried Parsley, it’s warmer than Guilford.
I have to agree with Amy. I love Guilford Green, even before it was showcased as BM colour of the year for 2015. Decorators and designers recommend it all the time as a neutral green, particularly good in entranceways. I personally will be painting my LR/DR this colour in a couple of weeks, with my entrance in BM Niveous and kitchen probably in BM Classic Grey. Can’t wait for the transformation!

Actually, I like the colour. I resembles some art nouveau/art deco colours. I was planning to paint my hall in it. But your suggestion to add some silver is also a good one. Now I’m in dubio 😉
